The Post–9⁄11 GI Bill
We are now accepting applications for the Post–9⁄11 GI Bill benefit that is effective August 1, 2009. Individuals with active duty service since September 11, 2001, may be eligible for this benefit and can apply on–line at www.GIBILL.VA.gov. The program provides tuition

NON-SERVICE CONNECTED PENSION REQUIREMENTS:

        I.         Veteran must have Served 90 days of active duty, 1 Day during wartime anywhere .

                        War Time Service Dates:

                           World War II - 12/7/1941 to 12/31/1946

                      Korean War - 6/27/1950 to 1/31/1955

                      Vietnam Era 2/28/1961 to 8/4/1964 "In Vietnam Only"

                                        8/5/1964 to 5/7/1975

                      Persian Gulf - 8/2/1990 until?                                   

        II.         Honorably or Medically Discharged

        III.        Private paying for Medical Expenses

NON-SERVICE CONNECTED PENSION PRELIMINARY DOCUMENTS NEEDED:

I.                   VETERAN – SINGLE / WIDOWED

·         Certified Military Discharge Documents

·         Veteran’s Social Security Benefits Verification Letter for Present Year

 II.                VETERAN – MARRIED

·         All the above plus

·         Spouse’s Social Security Benefits Verification Letter for Present Year

·         Marriage License or Certificate

 III.             VETERAN – SURVIVING SPOUSE

·         Certified Military Discharge Documents

·         Marriage License or Certificate

·         Death Certificate of Veteran

·         Surviving spouse’s Social Security Benefits Verification Letter for Present Year
